I was checking out the the latest supplemental edition of the Farmer's Alamanc 2007 and came across an article entitled, How Much Daylight Are We Really "Saving"?, regarding the Energy Policy Act of 2005 that was signed into law in August 8, 2005 regarding establishing new dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States. Starting in 2007, it will begin on the second Sunday of March and end, changing back to standard time on the first Sunday of November. This means that more than two thirds of the year will be in DST in order to supposedly save energy. The Farmers Almanac is disputing question some of the assumptions and even proposes what it feels is a more practical set of dates.
