Atlantic County is comprised of 23 municipalities. It is a diverse county, both in terms of population, history, demographics and business opportunities. It includes rural, suburban and some of the best known Jersey Shore communities, including Brigatine and Atlantic City.
Atlantic County is a county located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2000 Census, the population is 252,552. Its county seat is Mays Landing. This county is part of the Delaware Valley area. All of what is known today as Atlantic County was once called Egg Harbor, the eastern half of the original County of Gloucester (Source: Wikipedia) The county provides easy access to parks, seashores and relaxing beaches, business/financial centers, good schools and restaurants, major sporting and entertainment venues, including music and the arts, plus an unlimited variety of shopping opportunities. It's all here and accessible in a matter of minutes.
There are great places to live, work, play, vacation and raise your family in Atlantic County. They include pinelands communities such as Mullica Township, the growing family oriented Galloway, the beach community of Brigatine, and of course Atlantic City. You're invited to check them all out and experience each of their unique advantages to see which is best for your situation.
A choice of good schools (public, private and parochial), extensive and varied sports programs and recreational opportunities for all ages and skill levels are available. Convenient access to major transportation, including roads, trains, buses and airports provide easy access to Philadelphia and New York Metropolitan areas. People living in Atlantic County commute to work daily to Wilmington and Philadelphia and throughout the South Jersey Shore area. The Garden State Parkway and NJ Turnpike system gives you convenient access to the North Jersey and New York City.
What often first comes to mind when discussing Atlantic county is Atlantic City, the Las Vegas of the East Coast which has the limelight and notoriety, along with the beach communities such as Brigatine, Ventnor and Margate. While Atlantic City and the surrounding shoreline communities are a significant part of the county's tourist and vacation economy and it's history, they compromise a relatively small section of the larger county area. There are also small pineland communities, agricultural centers like Hammonton Township which claims to be the blueberry capital of the world, and historic villages such as Mays Landing, the county seat located in Hamilton Township, the largest municipality in New Jersey in terms of area.
